How To Clean Resin Driveway?
When you install a resin driveway, you expect that it remains in good condition for a long time. Resin driveways are known for their durability, longevity and hardwearing property. However, if you do not do your part which is to keep the driveway clean and free from contaminants or dirt, problems may begin to appear on the driveway earlier than they should.
A clean driveway adds to the overall beauty of the property and cleaning resin driveways does not require a whole lot because these driveways have a low maintenance requirement.
Cleaning Resin Driveways
There are given resin drive cleaner methods for each stain or contaminant you want to get rid of from your resin surface. The best way to clean driveway is explained in this guide and works for all resin bound systems including resin bound driveways, patio, pathway, etc. We encourage you to follow them to get the best out of your resin driveways.
How To Remove Stains From A Resin Drive?
To remove debris and fallen leaves, regular sweeping off your driveway is recommended. Sweeping as a resin driveway cleaner method involves using a stiff-bristled broom or brush to sweep the resin surface. Failing to carry out regular sweeping may allow weeds and moss to sprout on the resin drive which may lead to other problems. Also, staining can result from tannings from debris if they are not swept away and left to stay on the resin surface for a long time.
Jet wash or pressure wash is a very effective resin drive cleaner method. It is recommended to avoid a buildup of marks and dirt which could eventually lead to stains, discolouration and loss of beauty. You can do this twice a year to maintain the beauty of your driveway.
Before you do a pressure wash, sweep your driveway. Use a flat spraying nozzle as it improves accuracy when spraying your driveway. Additionally, we recommend using water at room temperature for pressure washing. Using water too hot or too cold can damage the driveway. Your nozzle should be held at least 200m away from the resin surface. Bringing the nozzle too close to the driveway can cause damage.
Furthermore, the maximum pressure rating should be 150bar. Ensure you do not go above this pressure rating so as not to weaken your drive. When spraying your driveway, move the jet washer back and forth in a “sweeping motion.”
Another way of cleaning driveways is to use your garden hose to hose down your resin drive. The same sweeping motion (back and forth) as applied in the pressure washing is recommended here. As a result of the permeable nature of resin bound surfaces, the water is easily drained through without forming pools of water on the surface.
Mild Weed Killer For Weed Removal
An effective resin drive cleaner method is using a mild weed killer to get rid of weeds. Resin driveways are resistant to growth of weeds; however, seedlings can be dispersed on the surface by animals and weather. These weeds when they begin to grow can be pulled out by hand ensuring that the root comes out with the weed. Alternatively, a mild weed killer can be used to kill them off. Do not use a strong weed killer unless you are going to dilute its concentration appropriately. When you use a strong weed killer, it can discolor the resin surface.
Warm Water For Brake Fluids And Engine Oil/Fuel
Warm water is effective as a resin drive cleaner to get rid of brake fluids which can be corrosive to your resin bound surface. Brake fluids shouldn’t be allowed to stay on the driveway surface. They should be removed as soon as they are noticed.
White Spirit And Emulsifier For Tyre Marks
We advise against dry steering (steering the wheel of a vehicle when it is not in motion). This can damage the surface of your driveway. However, if there are any dry marks on your resin driveway, you can use white spirit and a wash with emulsifier and fan-assisted pressure washer to clean resin drives of any tyre marks.
Rock Salt And Plastic Shovel For Ice and Frost Removal
If there is any ice buildup on your resin drive, you can use a white rock salt on the surface. It is a traditional and effective resin cleaner. Alternatively, you can use a plastic snow shovel to remove snow from the surface. Using a metal shovel can cause damage to the surface.
For sticky substances on the resin surface such as chewing gum, using a freeze spray is an effective resin bound clean to get rid of such substances. First harden each piece of the sticky substance with the freeze spray. Thereafter, scrape it off with a plastic scraper.
